Greg Jackson comes from a family whose rich musical history dates back
eight generations. His troubadour ancestors played reels, waltzes and
ballads in camps and makeshift taverns along the Mississippi River is
the late 1830's, as they made their way to the Staked Plains, or Llano
Estatacado.
Always searching for a better guitar, but frustrated by the price tags mass-produced instruments with inferior quality workmanship, Greg began building his own instruments in the early 1980's. He
teamed up with the late Stephen Trued, a gifted electrical engineer and
physics prodigy, and Robert Kettron, a custom furniture craftsman. Together,
they formed Jaket Custom Guitars. Stephen, the banjo player for the bluegrass
group, Killbilly, contributed his engineering knowledge to improve the
sound quality, and helped design the transducer pickups available in Jaket
instruments. Mr. Kettron provided his extensive knowledge of wood and
specialized tools to start the company.Jaket Custom Guitars provides a full range of luthier services.
