Luthier Greg Jackson combines the best of modern materials with traditional techniques to create a wide range of uncommonly fine, custom-fitted acoustic guitars, classical guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, mandolins and other stringed instruments.

Jaket Instruments is a full service luthier shop based in the heart of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex in North Texas.

Who needs a custom instrument?

We design and build custom guitars for professional musicians who require a custom sound and fit - and an instrument truly unique in design.

Jaket custom guitars - and all Jaket stringed instruments - are designed for adherents of every musical style, including rock, blues, country , folk, bluegrass, fingerpicking, jazz and classical.

Our handcrafted instruments are created for the musician who finds it difficult, even painful, to play off-the-rack equipment.

A custom-fitted guitar can make all the difference for the musician whose hand size makes it frustrating to find an instrument that plays comfortably.

We also perform repair work on quality vintage guitars and other stringed instruments.

Your basic Jaket

starts at $1800.00. Built with wood chosen for sound quality, we use book-matched Honduran Mahogany for the sides, back and neck, with a graphite-assisted book-matched spruce top with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. We use Schaller or Grover tuning machines, and Maccasser ebony veneer is deployed for the pickguard and head stock. The fingerboard is dressed with abalone dot inlay. and the finished instrument rests inside a five-ply hard shell case.

All Jaket custom guitars come with a lifetime-limited warranty for the original purchaser, guaranteeing against problems of workmanship and/or materials. The warranty does NOT include damage due to moisture, heat or gross negligence. Nor does it cover damage to the finish.

What upgrades do you offer?

Discerning customers who require a distinctive, more elaborate Jaket, have the option of an array of wood and aesthetic upgrades:
  • A choice of wood, including rosewood, bubinga, walnut, cypress, figured maple and others are available for the back and sides. Ebony is available for fingerboard and bridge.
  • Body cutaways for accessing upper frets.
  • Ebony and Ebony-Holly woodbinding and purfling.
  • Custom-designed patterns inlaid with exotic materials, including mother-of-pearl and abalone.
  • Hand finishing, designed to bring out the beauty of the instrument without dampening the resonance.
  • Hand rubbed French Polish, as used by classic violinmakers, creates a visually striking instrument with an acoustically transparent finish.
  • Classical and Flamenco designs use traditional woods with graphite assists on the top and neck for increased mid-range and treble response.
  • We build commissioned arch-tops and owner-concept guitars.
  • Mammoth ivory, black water buffalo horn, or graphite saddles, nuts, or tuner buttons.
  • Passive or active pick-up systems with handbuilt-in transducers.

Can you fix it?

We perform repair work on vintage and quality stringed instruments (and selected instruments of lesser quality, but that retain great sentimental value). Garage sale specials are strongly discouraged.
